LWMC disposes of record 55k tons of waste on Eid

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) carried out successful Eidul Azha Cleanliness Operation in the provincial capital with the disposal of record 55 thousand tons of animal waste during three days of Eid.

It was for first, the LWMC carried out cleanliness as operational company. The Punjab Chief Minister appreciated the LWMC for its solid waste management arrangements during three days of Eid.

The CM acknowledged strenuous efforts of the workers who sacrificed their Eid holidays and ensured a clean environment for Lahorites on Eidul Azha.

LWMC Chairman Amjad Ali Awan and CEO Rafia Haider along with Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik and Secretary LG & CD Noorul Amin Mengal paid frequent visit across the City to monitor cleanliness operation. They also monitored the whole operation from the control room.

The LWMC chairman said that the department is working in the light of Chief Minister’s directives. The entire staff of LWMC deserves appreciation over their exceptional performance during Eid.

The LWMC CEO stated that LWMC devised a comprehensive strategy to effectively collect and dispose of more than 55,000 tons of animal waste i.e. collection of offal using 1.5 million waste bags which were distributed to the citizens at Eid Camps, Model Camps, Shops, Mosques and during door to door campaigns.

The strategy also focused on swift and timely lifting of animal waste from streets, engaging additional pickups and transportation of waste firstly to 119 temporary waste collection & transfer stations and later o 5 designated dumpsites.

According to LWMC spokesperson, LWMC administration thanked the citizens for exemplary cooperation during all days of Eid.
