RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Army has promoted six senior officers to the rank of Lieutenant General, assigning them to key strategic roles to enhance operational efficiency of forces.
One of key appointments is Commander of the 2 Corps in Multan, as Lt. Gen. Ahsan Gulrez, who was promoted last year as the Director General of Joint Staff (DG JS).
Lt. Gen. Tabbasum Habib, Lt. Gen. Amir Najam, Lt. Gen. Arshad Naseem, Lt. Gen. Hassan Khattak, and Lt. Gen. Azhar Waqas are also promoted to take up influential command and administrative positions.
Under the new postings, Lt. Gen. Tabbasum Habib will now serve as the Director General of Joint Staff (DG JS). He earlier served in Perspective Planning division.
Lt. Gen. Amir Najam will continue as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University (NDU), where he is tasked with overseeing advanced military education. Lt. Gen. Arshad Naseem took charge as Surgeon General.
Lt. Gen. Hassan Khattak will take on responsibilities of Quarter Master General, in charge of logistics and supply chain management. He succeeds Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Ali, who has been appointed Secretary of Defence.
Lt. Gen. Azhar Waqas has been elevated to Adjutant General (AG) in Rawalpindi, where he will manage personnel policies, welfare, and human resources. Before his promotion, he served as the Director General of Rangers in Sindh.
The fresh promotions are part of Pakistan Army’s efforts to streamline its leadership structure and ensure the effective implementation of its strategic objectives.
