A heavily rotated Liverpool team took to the field after their Carabao Cup win over Chelsea only a few days ago. But the difference in quality showed from the off to ensure Liverpool beat Norwich without any major hiccups.
Minamino, one of 10 changes to the Liverpool team, struck the opening goal in the 27th minute from Divock Origi’s cross
The former Red Bull Salzburg attacker then doubled the hosts’ advantage six minutes before the half-time interval slamming a shot home at the back post after a corner dropped into his path.
Norwich who are bottom of the Premier League table rattled the Reds through Lukas Rupp who fired in a venomous strike past Alisson from outside the box.
But despite growing pressure from the Canaries Jurgen Klopp’s rotated lineup had enough to see out the victory.
While Klopp himself has played down such talk this win means that Liverpool’s hopes of a historic quadruple remain alive.
