Pakistan Army’s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) saw major restructuring, and the department will now be led permanently by a serving Lieutenant General.

ISPR underwent significant changes to address the complex challenges in Pakistan’s information arena. ISPR’s expansion will involve exploring new areas of work, differing from previous practices.

Reports quoting informed sources claimed that Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif will remain as head of ISPR, and will assisted by two major generals. The appointments for the major generals are expected to be picked soon.

In his recent presser, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed media to clarify armed forces’ position on several key issues, and highlighted spread of false information against the armed forces and stressed the need for regular updates on these matters.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) was established in 1949, and serves as the public relations arm for security forces. It manages media relations, formulates military media policies, and monitors both domestic and international media.

ISPR also produces various media content, including dramas, films, and documentaries.

Inaction against May 9 planners, facilitators could intensify fascism in Pakistan, warns DG ISPR
