The Lahore High Court on Monday has sought details of the vehicles used by Punjab government officials. In the Lahore High Court, a hearing was held on the petition against buying new vehicles for Punjab government officials. Justice Risal Hasan Syed heard on the petition of Sardar Farhat Manzoor Advocate.

The petitioner took the position that recently the government took a loan from the IMF on strict terms, after the loan heavy taxes were imposed on the poor people, the poor people are committing suicide due to inflation while the government is buying new vehicles for the officers instead of giving relief to the masses.

The petition further said that the Punjab government has released funds of more than two billion 33 crore rupees for the vehicles of assistant commissioners and other officers, and departments across the province already have a large number of vehicles.

The petitioner requested that the caretaker government released billions of rupees for the purchase of vehicles despite not having the authority, the court should declare the notification of giving vehicles to assistant commissioners and officers null and void and ask for the details of the vehicles used by all the officers.

The government lawyer objected and said that the application is not admissible, the court should declare it inadmissible, after hearing the arguments, the High Court should ask for the complete details of the vehicles used by the officers of Punjab.

The court also ordered the Punjab government to submit its reply within ten days.

The court order said that it should be told how many vehicles are with the departments and officers across the province.

If the court is not satisfied with the answer, then the relevant officers will be summoned.

After the court is satisfied, an appropriate order will be issued.
