The Lahore High Court on Friday mandated the issuance of licenses for the sale of birds across Punjab.

Justice Shahid Karim, presiding over petitions concerning smog prevention, directed attention to the sale of birds in Tolton market, emphasizing the need for intervention by the Wildlife Department. During the hearing, it was revealed that poultry business thrives in Tolton Market, originally designated for such activities. Consequently, the court decreed the issuance of licenses province-wide for bird transactions, with a stern warning against unlicensed sales.

Furthermore, the court addressed concerns over soil dispersion following canal cleaning, urging action from the canal department. The Lahore High Court has deferred further proceedings on smog-related petitions until the upcoming Friday. Notably, during the last session, Justice Shahid Karim voiced grievances over disrupted traffic due to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
