Elected representatives of local government staged a protest demonstration to press for their demand of restoration of LG Act 2019 and empowering local bodies to serve the people in a better way.

The protesters included mayor, chairmen, general members, youth, minorities and women councilors, gathered in front of Bajaur Press Club Monday and chanted slogans against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

The speakers said that the government should restore the Local Government Act of 2019 in its original form, withdraw the amendments in the act along with ROPs that crippled the local government system, restoration of 30 percent ADP, payment of two-year outstanding arrears, restoration DDAC committees and handing over of development schemes to LG representatives.

They also demanded an end to undue delay to release of budget for the local governments and empowering the chairmen as per the act and award of honorarium for minorities, youth, female and farmer seats in Tehsil and City councils. They warned to extend protest to provincial level if the demands are not taken seriously.
