LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has extended the deadline for paying electricity bills, in line with the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Last week, the premier directed to extend date of payment for electricity bills by 10 days. In this regard, a notification was issued by the Power Division which orders to all electricity distribution companies.
After the notification, the due date of July and August bills will be extended by 10 days amid ongoing protest by Jamaat-e-Islami against higher electricity bills.
Who Can Benefit From Extended Due Date?
The Jurisdiction of LESCO extends five main districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara and Nankana of Punjab province.
All the consumers in the jurisdiction of LESCO are eligible to take benefit from the extended due date for electricity bills.
LESCO spokesperson said the extension of the deadline for paying electricity bills was directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif due to the difficulties faced by electricity consumers.
He said LESCO has extended the deadline for paying July’s bills by 10 days. He also informed that with this extension, the penalties imposed on consumers have been waived.
