Law enforcement agencies apprehended a key player involved in tampering with IMEI numbers of stolen mobile devices. Sohail, the arrested individual, confessed to altering hundreds of IMEI codes, a service frequently utilized by local shopkeepers for a nominal fee. Shockingly, Sohail disclosed that a single IMEI number could be used in up to five devices, facilitating the illegal trade of stolen phones. The operation also led to the recovery of IMEI-altering equipment and software. Additionally, responding to directives from Sindh’s Chief Minister, police arrested 67 alleged buyers of stolen goods in District West, seizing stolen mobiles and vehicle parts. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
