Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh has revealed that LCCI is going to carry out an economic survey which would act as a barometer for post-corona economy.
In a statement, LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that the LCCI post-corona economic survey would provide most up-to-date information that how industry, trade and services sectors are dealing with the current crisis and what the plan of the government and private sectors should be for the time to come.
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that the LCCI economic survey would give us a real insight into the way trade and industries are coping with the crisis and how government and business community can restart recovery process.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has already complied and forwarded its post-Covid-19 budget proposals to the government. He said that Pakistan’s economy is going through a challenging phase due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. The most affected section of our society is the businesses.
The LCCI president said that the manufacturers, traders, retailers, importers/exporters and other segments of business community are in a distress and facing huge financial losses due to current emergency situation as no business activity is going on in the country. He said that these extra-ordinary circumstances require extra-ordinary policy decisions.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in its post-Covid-19 budget proposals, has suggested deferment of interest payments of businesses, tax exemptions for balancing, modernization and replacement of all existing industrial units including SMEs, cut in energy cost, deferment of energy bills, no question about income source, cut in income tax rates and tariff rationalization for raw materials & intermediate goods and exchange rates.
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh hoped that the post-Covid-19 economic survey of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry would be a great support to the trade, industry and economy of the country.
