Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Nawaz Sharif expressed his desire for Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the upcoming general elections from Karachi.
Nawaz Sharif expressed his intention while chairing a party’s parliamentary board to decide the fate of the candidates for the seats of the national and the provincial assemblies in the upcoming elections at the party’s secretariat in Model Town on Monday.
The insiders revealed that Shehbaz Sharif would contest elections on the national and the provincial seats from Sindh. “Nawaz Sharif, during his address, expressed his desire that Shehbaz Sharif should contest elections from there,” said the sources.
The sources while quoting Nawaz Sharif said, “The people of Karachi should start preparation. Shehbaz Sharif is coming there,”. They said that the PML-N supremo also directed the party leaders in Sindh to organize the election campaign for Shehbaz Sharif.
“Some friends may have arrived by plane, and some have come by motorway. Initially, coming on the roads was a difficult task, but nowadays, motorways are available everywhere,” said Nawaz Sharif while mentioning infrastructure development during his interaction with the candidates from Sindh.
The former prime minister questioned the halting of the motorway project from Sukkur to Hyderabad, which, he claimed, was initiated during his government but discontinued in 2018.
Nawaz Sharif raised concerns about incomplete projects in Karachi, including the Green Line and the delayed arrival of buses. He also raised critical questions about peace in Karachi, the eradication of terrorism, and the initiation of projects related to coal in Sindh.
Nawaz Sharif stated that he was the prime minister in the morning, and by evening, he was accused of high-jacking. Despite no provision in the constitution and law, the Prime Minister had to be removed, he said, adding that the load shedding was ending in the country, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was underway.
He went on to say that it was anticipated that Pakistan would join the G20, and the International Monetary Fund had bid farewell. External loans, he said, were being repaid, and unique tasks were being accomplished in Pakistan, which other nations could not undertake.
“The world took notice of us,” said Nawaz Sharif.
