ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis applying for UAE Work Visas are officially required to submit a Police Character Certificate amid the tightening of Visa regulations amid complaints of illegal activities.
Those looking to travel to the Gulf nation for work will now be required to get a police character certificate.
A notification issued by Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment stated “A letter received from Pakistan Airports Authority on the subject noted above wherein PAA conveyed the directions to seek Police Character Certificate from UAE bound intending emigrants prior to protector registration.”
It said “In view of above, all P.Es are requested to seek Police Character Certificate from UAE bound intending emigrants as Mandatory Requirement before their protector registration and also circulate this information to all OEPs to ensure immediate and strict compliance”.
Islamabad and Abu Dhabi are making stern rules to curb illegal activities by group of individuals who dented country’s reputation and created difficulties for those looking to work there.
UAE Visa Update for Pakistanis
The development comes as Pakistanis especially blue-collar class, are facing difficulties in getting UAE work visas. Reports suggest that UAE has placed 24 Pakistani cities on a “No-Visa List,” targeting residents from areas accused of visa misuse and fraud.
Amid viral gossips, Foreign Office denied claims of complete visa ban, stating that visa issuance is the sovereign right of the UAE. UAE also raised concerns over criminal activities involving Pakistanis, with some reports claiming over 5,000 Pakistanis in UAE prisons.
Despite some improvements, the visa situation remains challenging, particularly for younger, single men. The issue has gained attention in both diplomatic and parliamentary discussions.
