LAHORE – If you are living in the provincial capital Lahore, get ready for another bout of monsoon rain starting from August 26 as several regions are expected to experience downpours.

Mercury in a city of over 11 million will come down a few notches, along with high humidity, and the wind will be blowing from the southwest. In its latest advisory, Met Office said upcoming rains could lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of several region.
For next 24 hours, PMD said mainly hot and humid weather conditions are expected in most districts of the province. There are also chances of isolated places in Lahore, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G Khan and RYK.
A low pressure is likely to approach southern parts of the country tonight. Due to this low-pressure weather system, strong monsoon currents are likely to enter in the country (especially southern parts) from 25th of August.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of heavy rains and potential flooding in Sindh and Punjab from August 26 to 29.
Flash flooding is possible in local streams and hill torrents, and coastal flooding may affect Makran’s coast and low-lying areas in Sindh. The NDMA has urged authorities and the public to prepare for these conditions, and to follow instructions from local officials. This warning follows predictions of heavy rain and strong winds from Met Office.
