In the midst of the current fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government is stepping up vaccination efforts across the country and has ordered that unvaccinated individuals in Lahore will not be provided petrol beginning next month.
Unvaccinated people will not be allowed fuel starting September 1, according to banners posted on the district administration’s instructions at petrol stations across Lahore.
A poster at a Lahore gas pump says, “No vaccination, no service.” “From September 1, only customers with coronavirus vaccine certificates will be able to buy petrol.”
Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning, stated earlier on Wednesday that individuals who have not been properly vaccinated against the coronavirus will be unable to use public transportation starting October 15.
Asad Umar announced a substantial extension of the mandatory vaccination programme at a press conference with SAPM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.
“Most public places are covered by this obligatory regime. Enforcement mechanisms both administrative and tech-based is being developed to ensure a high compliance level,” he had said.
He had previously said that if school teachers and staff do not get the vaccines by October 15, they will be unable to work.
Vaccination has been made obligatory for air travel after September 30, according to the head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), while individuals working in schools and transportation must have their jabs before that date.
He had stated that the government is taking steps to halt the virus’ spread, and that vaccination is essential. He went on to say that after September 15, only a single dose vaccination is required for highway travel and that after October 15, no one will be allowed to use the highway without vaccination.
Shopping malls
Unvaccinated individuals will not be permitted into shopping malls after August 31, he added, adding that beyond that date, a single dosage vaccine will be required for admission.
From September 30, only individuals who have had both vaccinations will be permitted to access shopping centres, he said.
Restaurants and Hotels
From August 31, only individuals who have had one vaccine will be permitted to enter the hotels, while full vaccination will be required from September 30.
Marriage ceremonies
After September 30, those who have not had their two vaccinations will not be permitted to attend any marriage ceremonies, whether indoor or outdoor.
