Lahore, Punjab weather update; rains, isolated hailstorms predicted

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall of varying intensities with isolated hailstorms for Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over southwestern Balochistan. It will likely grip most upper parts of Pakistan today.

Under these conditions, partly cloudy/cold weather is expected in most districts of the province on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday. However, light rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Attock, Rawalpindi, Murree and Galyat on Sunday evening/night.

On Monday and Tuesday, light rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Jhang, Faisalabad, Okara, Lahore, Gujranwala, Attock, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat and surroundings.

Rains and isolated heavy snowfall may cause the closure of roads in Murree and Galyat. Wind-thunderstorm/hailstorms may damage loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Tourists are advised not to travel unnecessarily.

Lahore’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 12-14 degrees Celsius on Monday and 13-15 C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in Murree and Galyat.

Murree remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped to 01 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 56 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 12 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 77 per cent.
