Lahore, Punjab weather update; more rains expected

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rainfall of varying intensities for Lahore and parts of Punjab during the week.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to affect southern and western parts of the country from today evening/night.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorm/snow is expected in Murree, Galyat and surroundings on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is also likely at isolated places in Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore and Narowal.

Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

Fog will likely prevail in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding during night.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, rains occurred in Islamabad, Pothohar region and northeast/central Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 02 C below freezing. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 82 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 09 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
