Lahore, Punjab weather update; more intermittent rains likely

LAHORE – More rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s western and upper parts.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali on Wednesday night. Light rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Layyah and Bahawalpur.

On Thursday and Friday, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. Light rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali.

Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in Galyat. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 28-30 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, rainfall occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature reached 35 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 21 per cent.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 29 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 20 per cent.
