Lahore, Punjab weather update; light rain likely in upper districts

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological department (PMD) has predicted mainly cold and foggy weather for Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the next two days.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, cold and foggy weather is likely in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.

Rain update for Punjab

However, partly cloudy/cloudy weather with light rain/drizzle in likely in Pothohar, Murree, Galliyat and surroundings.

Fog update for Punjab

Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings.

Day temperatures will likely remain below normal in most districts of the province due to dense fog.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05-07 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, cold wave and foggy conditions persisted in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Freezing weather prevailed in upper districts.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 01 C below freezing.

Lahore’s minimum temperature was recorded at 05 C.

Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.

Dense fog prevailed in plains which disrupted traffic on major inter and intra city roads including Motorways and National Highway.
