LAHORE – Intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan. They will likely penetrate the central parts of the country tomorrow. A westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Mianwali on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday with occasional gaps.
Heavy falls may also occur at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Mandi Bahaudin, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore and Hafizabad during the period. Rains are also expected at isolated places in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Friday and 34-36°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, Pothohar region and northeast Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Sargodha remained the hottest place in Punjab where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Maximum temperature in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 39°C, and Sahiwal, Multan and Faisalabad at 38°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 88 per cent.
