PESHAWAR  – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Monday scheduled an Apex Committee meeting for July 25 in response to demands presented by the Bannu peace sit-in jirga.

On Monday, the members of the jirga, who are participating in the Bannu peace protest, met with Chief Minister Gandapur.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, and other relevant officials.

During the meeting, the jirga members voiced their opposition to Operation Azm-e-Istahkam and demanded the elimination of armed groups. They also emphasized the need for empowering the police and conducting night patrols.

Furthermore, the jirga requested that search operations and actions against terrorists be carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) rather than security forces.

They also called for missing persons to be presented before the courts. These demands will be placed before the Apex Committee.

Following the meeting, Chief Minister Gandapur announced the Apex Committee meeting, where five members of the jirga would also participate. All the demands of the jirga would be discussed in this meeting.

Jirga President Nasir Khan Bangash stated that the sit-in in Bannu would continue. Chief Minister Gandapur is expected to visit Bannu on Friday to inform the participants about the decisions made by the Apex Committee, after which the sit-in is expected to conclude.
