Former chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Horticulture Exports and Secretary General (Federal) of Businessmen Panel (BMP), Ahmad Jawad has said efforts are under way to normalize the situation to facilitate kinnow exports, though majority kinnow exporters have realized that the rate for kinnow growers Rs 600 per 40kg was unjustified which was announced by some circles of PFVA Association without any detailed deliberation. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Ahmad Jawad said uncertainty in kinnow belt at glance yet, purchasing was almost stopped due to one immature statement, however we are trying our best to normalize the position so that kinnow exports could not suffer which will be commence from December 01, 2019. It is now expected that revised rate will be announced soon which may around Rs 850 per 40 kg in the light of inflation, he added. He also asked the officials of Ministry of Commerce to converse with Chinese authorities for allowing Pakistani kinnow on all entry points, including its CPEC route, so that trade may be enhanced. The SG (Federal) BMP said that China is a market for a minimum of 100,000 tonnes of Pakistani kinnow due to their high demand and it depends how we tap this big opportunity.
