Punjab Culture Minister Khayal Ahmed Kastro on Wednesday sought a report on the condition of cultural centres buildings across Punjab province. In this regard, the culture department has issued a letter to all the heads of the attached cultural bodies regarding building inspection of the cultural halls, auditoriums, and museums across the province. The heads have been directed to submit a fitness report of the cultural centres’ buildings in ten days. Commenting on the matter, Minister Culture said that the safety of the audience and good ambiance of the cultural auditoriums must be up kept. He said covid had badly affected the creative and cultural activities and he was hopeful to reopen cultural facilities with prescribed SOPs for Covid.
Meanwhile, the Culture Minister hosted a farewell lunch in the honor of two recently retired directors of the Punjab Arts Council. Secretary Information and Culture Raja Jahangir Anwar, DGPR Punjab Aslam Dogar, LAC Executive Director Ms. Saman Rai, PILAC Executive Director Dr Sughra Sadaf and Mr. Rizwan Shareef, Executive Director PUCAR also graced the ceremony.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Kastro said that both Ms. Sofia Baidar and Ms. Tanya Sohail had tremendously contributed towards the promotion of cultural activities in Punjab during their service. He said the new officers must learn from the retiring officer’s experience for the betterment of the culture sector in Punjab.
