Karachi roads get facelift with 161 repairs

To enhance the condition of Karachi’s deteriorating roads, significant repair work has been undertaken across various districts. Under the supervision of Karachi Commissioner Syed HasanNaqvi, 161 road patches have been successfully repaired, as reported in a recent review meeting, was chaired by Commissioner Naqvi and attended by Additional IG Operations, DIGs, and other senior officials. During the session, Deputy Commissioners provided detailed briefings on the progress of road repairs in their respective districts. Commissioner Naqvi emphasized the urgency of completing the road repairs to ensure smooth traffic flow and improve public safety. He also highlighted the need for collaboration with federal agencies to expedite the road rehabilitation process.

The Deputy Commissioners shared updates on the repair work completed in their districts. According to their briefings, repairs have been carried out in the following areas: In District South, Deputy Commissioner AltafSario reported the completion of 54 patches. Deputy Commissioner ShehzadAbbasi of District East highlighted repairs at Four MinarChowrangi, Bahadurabad, and various service roads in PECH Society, Delhi Society, and Sindhi Muslim Society, among others. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Salam shared that 32 patches were repaired in District Malir, with assurance from the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) for additional work. Deputy Commissioner JawarMuzaffar informed that 10 patches were repaired in District Korangi, including key areas such as Shahjahan Bridge, JamiyaMilliaChowrangi, and Model Park.In District West, 18 patches were repaired, including Khuda Ki Basti Bridge and areas in Surjani and Orangi. In District Central, 11 patches were repaired, with significant work on Haroon Center, Buffer Zone, and Imam BargahBaghRizwan.

The meeting also reviewed measures to prevent construction debris from obstructing traffic and efforts to eliminate illegal parking. The initiative aims to bring a positive change in the city’s infrastructure, enhancing public convenience and safety through comprehensive road repairs. Further support from provincial and federal agencies is anticipated to accelerate these improvements.
