KARACHI – A traffic police officer, who was allegedly high on a substance, hit a person with his car, killing him on the spot in Clifton area of Karachi.
The incident occurred near the Clifton Underpass, where a speeding car with the number plate BF-7810 struck Ayub Cedar, son of Mahboob, causing his death on the spot.
After the accident, residents filmed a video of the alleged responsible traffic police inspector, identified as Shahid Angoro, who can be seen wearing police uniform, while people claimed he was intoxicated.
Later, police reached the scene and arrested inspector Shahid. A case has been registered against the suspect.
SHO Clifton Police Station, Irfan Mayo, stated that Traffic Police Inspector Shahid Angoro was posted as Section Officer at Mominabad.
He said a medical test was conducted to confirm if he was drunk, adding that further action will be taken after the report is received.
Earlier, the son of DIG Rapid Response Force Azfar Mahesar allegedly hit a woman with a car while in a state of intoxication.
According to the police, the son of DIG Azfar was traveling in an official vehicle with two personnel of the Rapid Response Force when he hit a woman in the Garden area, leaving her severely injured.
