RAWALPINDI – Star-studded Peshawar Zalmi displayed A-game to clinch victory against Karachi Kings in the 17th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight on Wednesday.
Zalmi defeated the Kings by 24 runs. Chasing not so easy target of 198, Karachi Kings fell 24 runs short as Imad Wasim led side managed to touch 173/8 despite striking half-centuries by the skipper himself and Matthew Wade.
Opener Adam Rossington returned early on 15, with Mathew Wade remaining in command in the second half of the game. Tayyab Tahir was caught behind the stumps by Azmatullah in a much-needed breakthrough for Yellow Storm.

Irfan Khan also failed to create any big show as he returned on a mere 4. Seasoned player Shoaib Malik could score 1 as the powerhouse went back soon. Mathew Wade then returned in a major blow for Kings who kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Later, captain Imad Wasim gained momentum and played unbeaten 57 runs in five overs but could not help his team win today’s game.
For Zalmi, Aamer Jamal and Omarzai got three scalps, while Mujeeb ur Rehman got two wickets.
Haseebullah and Rovman Powell blasted quickfire fifties as Peshawar Zalmi set Karachi an imposing 198-run target to win the 17th match of Pakistan Super League season 8.
Haseebullah slammed a half-ton to aid his side to post 197/5 after Karachi Kings’ star pacer Mohammad Amir went on a rampage as he thrashed the top order of Yellow Storm.
Peshawar Zalmi, after being invited to bat first, failed to start on a good note as the top three players including Mohammad Haris, Babar Azam, and Saim Ayub returned to pavilion within three overs.

Later, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Haseebullah maintained to gain some momentum and raised 82 runs together, the latter posted half a century on 27 balls but Tabraiz Shamsi struck him out in a much-needed breakthrough to Karachi Kings.
After Haseebullah’s departure, Powell slammed half ton for his side, aiding to reach 197 in given overs. He was then outfoxed by Amir in the 19th over.
Amir raked accolades with striking figures of 4/26, while Shamsi got one scalp.
Karachi Kings on Wednesday won the toss and decided to bowl against Peshawar Zalmi in the 17th fixture of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
