LAHORE – Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan on Friday taken oath as Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court. Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman administered oath to the 52nd Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
A simple, dignified and graceful ceremony was held at the Governor House, in which Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz was also present. On the occasion, Senior Puisne Judge of Lahore High Court Justice Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, Justice Miss Aaliya Neelum, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan as well as other Judges, Registrar Sheikh Khalid Bashir, Speaker of Punjab Assembly, Provincial Ministers, Federal and Provincial Law Officers, Corps.
Commander Lahore, IG Punjab Police, Judicial Officers, LHC Officers and relatives of Chief Justice were also present. Chief Secretary Punjab read out the notification of appointment of the Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan.
After taking oath, on arrival at the Lahore High Court, Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan was given an enthusiastic welcome. A contingent police staff also presented a guard of honor to the Hon’ble Chief Justice.
Mr. Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan was born in Pindi Gheb, District Attock on 15.03.1963. His lordship did his graduation from Gordon College, Rawalpindi and earned Bachelor’s degree from Punjab University. Later he obtained his L.L.B degree from University Law College, Punjab University, Lahore in the year 1989. He was enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1990 and started practice at Rawalpindi. He was enrolled as Advocate of High Court in the year 1993.
Later he became an Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan in the year 2004.
During the practice as an Advocate of about twenty-one years the Hon’ble Judge has contested a large number of cases. The Judge took active part in Bar elections and was elected as Secretary General of High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi in the year 2004. He was elected as President of High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi in the year 2009. He was elevated to the bench of Lahore High Court, Lahore, on May 12, 2011.
