Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Monday declared that immediate solution to public grievances and delivery of justice to citizens is the top priority of the Punjab Police.
“Supervisory officers should personally ensure redressal of grievances of citizens coming to open court by taking timely measures.
Police can earn trust and cooperation of people by ensuring provision of best services to citizens and field officers should deliver the citizens in line with smart and community policy rules.
Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan expressed the views during an open court held at Central Police Office here on Monday.
Rao Sardar Ali said that delay in registration of FIR and substandard investigation is tantamount to aiding and abetting the oppressor, warning that those found involved in the malpractice should be ready for strict departmental and legal action.
He further said that a list of field officers and personnel against whom complaints have been received in the open court should be prepared and submitted to him so that he can personally seek answers from them. The IGP listened to the complaints of more than 20 citizens and issued orders for their redressal.
During the open court, the IG Police suspended DSP and SHO Saddr Kharian for delay in registration of FIR. While listening to complaint of a citizen named Muhammad Iqbal from Sahiwal, the IGP directed DPO to undertake investigation into his case and summoned the DSP and SHO concerned to the CPO for clarification.
Moreover, on complaint of citizen, Okara Cantt Police SHO and investigation officer of Mansoora Abad, Faisalabad were also summoned to Central police office for clarification about delay in taking of action.
On the request of Abdul Shakoor, a resident of Sargodha, DSP and SHO Atta Shaheed Police Station were ordered to appear in CPO along with the applicant.
Meanwhile, IG of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan took notice of the tragic incident of killing of parents and sister in a marriage dispute in Jhang and directed RPO Faisalabad to submit report. He directed DPO Jhang to immediately visit the house of the affected family for their redressal.
IG Punjab directed that a special team should be formed to arrest ruthless accused He further instructed DPO Jhang to supervise arrest of accused and investigation of incident so that there would be no delay in getting him punished severely by the court.
Meanwhile, IG of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that lawyers community is very important section of the society and Punjab Police will ensure every possible step for supremacy of law and justice in this regard.
He said that suggestions forwarded by the lawyers for security of courts and offices would be taken into consideration and coordination of RPOs and DPOs with members of Punjab Bar Council would be improved in order to resolve the issues faced by the lawyers.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a nine-member delegation of Punjab Bar Council at CPO here.
