The world renowned Pakistani artist Jimmy Engineer on Thursday announced that schools and colleges across the federal capital were free to use his paintings (digital prints) to inspire students to learn fine arts, creativity, patriotism and history.

He was speaking at the second day of the exhibition of some 100 paintings by him at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). The day was devoted to the students of various schools and colleges of Islamabad that work under the Federal Directorate of Education including the Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) G-6/4, IMCG F-7/2 and others.

Federal Secretary for Education, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani along with officials including Senior Joint Secretary Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Deputy Secretary Ammara Nasim and others was there to acknowledge the efforts of one of the finest painters of Pakistan whose works have been exhibited in around 70 countries of the world and whose one painting is worth hundreds and thousands of dollars.

This indeed is a great gesture by a great man and it will inspire our students to discover their creative skills and serve their country in this particular realm, Wani said.

“Jimmy is a great artist and his paintings have been appreciated worldwide,” he said adding, “Through granting copyrights of his paintings to educational institutions, Jimmy has provided an opportunity to the students to benefit from his expertise and learn the intricacies of art as well as the messages behind these inspirational works,” he said.

The federal secretary said that the digital prints of the paintings of Jimmy Engineer will be displayed in the educational institutions of the capital within a month. “We want our children to get inspired from the art and paintings and exercise their skills through art as creative works help in getting away from negative thoughts.”

Jimmy Engineer while talking to Pakistan Observer said, “I have no objection to the display of the digital prints of my paintings at schools and colleges as I think it is time for the youth to come towards aesthetic pursuits and draw inspiration from their golden past.

Under the agreement, the digital prints of Jimmy’s art works will be displayed in the educational institutions so that the students can get inspiration from his works.

Jimmy Engineer said Pakistan is a country blessed with beautiful places and great people. “I always ask people from other countries if they have a person like Abdul SattarEdhi” he said.
