Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman, the Emeer ofJamaat-e-Islami Karachi Tuesday said that if the trend of increasingelectricity and fuel prices continues, consultation will be sought fromtraders and representatives of various sections of the public to stage asit-in at the Governor’s House. It is not necessary to limit the matter to protests until the issue ofthe people’s problems increasing with each passing day is not addressed. The situation where there is no light at the end of the tunnel isextremely inappropriate for national security. He expressed thesethoughts while addressing a local restaurant event under the title “Meetthe Editors” organized by the Karachi Editors Club.
The event was attended by the President of the Editors Club, MubashirMir, the General Secretary, and members of the Editors Club. The eventwas preside by Mukhtar Ahmed Butt. Earlier, Mubashir Mir and foundermember NaeemTahir welcomed him on behalf of the club on HafizNaeem-ur-Rahman’s arrival.Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman faced the questions of Sindh’s nationalistintellectuals, asking why the voices for the rights of the oppressedFatima Furro, a young victim of cruelty in Ranipur, are not beingraised? What power or pressure is keeping humanity’s history silentabout such a great injustice? Where are the columnists of majornewspapers?
Where are the women storytellers who used to rally for therights of Sindh’s women? Why are they silent?Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman, the Emeer ofJamaat-e-Islami Karach answered that Jamaat-e-Islami supports thecreation of new provinces in the country. In the light of the report ofMaulana Zafar Ahmad Ansari, the demand for 21 provinces is beingsupported, but demanding a new province in Sindh has become difficultand incites bloodshed. So, to prevent any kind of chaos, anarchy, andloss of public lives, Jamaat-e-Islami will not support the demand for anew province in Sindh, but if powers are devolved to the municipalitiesof Karachi, we will not demand a separate province in Sindh in thefuture.
Answering a question, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman said that those whoaccuse us of speaking against the “Wadera” for personal gain, where willthey take Sindh’s resistance literature? They are using strange logicthat speaking against the Wadera is not criticized when Sindhi Speakingdo it, but if anyone non-Sindhi speaks against it, they become enemiesof Sindh.
This propaganda has been peddled by the Pakistan Peoples Partyfor the last 15 years of its rule. The nationalist movement spread bythem has made the social and economic conditions of Karachi worse. They have used their ‘political power’ to impose a mayor on Karachi’speople who lack the ability and qualification, not to mention theirintentions. He stated that the situation calls for changing the verysystem in which the powerful continue to grow stronger and oppressionagainst the weak continues to rise.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman, the Emeer ofJamaat-e-Islami Karach stated that during the past fifteen years, MQM and PPP havedevastated Karachi. While the PPP is eager to loot Karachi, they areunwilling to offer even a job, let alone a drop of water, to itscitizens. The disparity between the people and the government in Karachiis glaring. Karachi’s infrastructure has been destroyed over the pastfifteen years. The PPP is responsible for this destruction. He said that whether they are from rural areas or urban areas, thepeople of Sindh should recognize their true political leaders.
The PPPand MQM have continued to deceive the people while remaining inopposition. They have worsened Karachi’s social and economic conditions. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has received a mandate in local elections.Despite being in the opposition, we will work beyond people’sexpectations.Answering a question, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman said that althoughJamaat-e-Islami was not officially entrusted with a position in theprovincial cabinet, we believe that fair elections should be held ontime.
In the presidential address, Mukhtar Ahmed Butt said that the era ofmedia propagation is revolutionary. A statement based on factualinaccuracies will not be accepted by the people. Secretary KarachiEditors Club, ManzarNaqvi, expressed gratitude on behalf of theparticipants.
