Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has asked the rulers to first take action against corrupt elements within the government ranks before coming down hard against others. In a statement issued from JI headquarters Mansoora on Thursday, he said the Chief Justice of Pakistan had shown the mirror to the government and highlighted the need for not using the accountability process for political engineering. The government must take seriously the CJ caution against selective accountability, he said.
The one year performance of the PTI government clearly indicated that it badly failed to impose its ‘anti-corruption’ agenda, he said, adding Prime Minister Imran Khan was most vocal against corruption but he acted totally against his slogans. If the PTI government was sincere in implementation of its ‘anti-corruption’ agenda, its action should have been impartial and across the board, he said.
He said the Supreme Court and the government yet to take action against those 436 people who were named in Panama Papers.\
