Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Monem Zafar Khan, inaugurated the newly restored “Quaid-e-Azam Family Park and Mini Zoo” under New Karachi Town’s administration. The park, neglected for years, has been transformed into a vibrant recreational spot for North Karachi residents.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Town Chairman Muhammad Yousuf, North District Ameer Tariq Mujtaba, and Vice Chairman Shoaib Bin Zaheer.
The park features swings for children, food stalls, and a mini zoo hosting deer, peacocks, macaws, bluebirds, ostriches, and other exotic birds. Entry to the park is free, a gesture warmly appreciated by locals. Speaking at the event, Monem Zafar Khan said, “This park is the best New Year’s gift for the people of North Karachi. Jamaat-e-Islami’s representatives have shown that even with limited resources, we can serve the people effectively.” Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Monem Zafar Khan highlighted the restoration of 125 parks in all nine towns under Jamaat-e-Islami in 2024, alongside the rehabilitation of numerous public schools and the installation of thousands of streetlights.
Plans to pave streets with interlocking blocks are also in progress. Khan criticized the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for failing to decentralize power and resources, stating that Jamaat-e-Islami’s town chairmen have undertaken exemplary development projects despite these challenges. “Karachi drives Pakistan’s economy, yet the city is deprived of its rightful share. The PPP only takes from Karachi but gives nothing in return,” he remarked.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Monem Zafar Khan further stated that New Karachi Town is the only area in the city with a water park, showcasing the difference between Jamaat-e-Islami’s transparent governance and the corruption and nepotism prevalent in other administrations.
North District Ameer Tariq Mujtaba emphasized the party’s initiatives for youth, including the “Bano Qabil Program” for education and restoring sports grounds and parks. Vice Chairman Shoaib Bin Zaheer and UC Chairman Ahmer Khan reaffirmed their commitment to serving the people, regardless of limited powers and resources. The event concluded with residents expressing gratitude to Jamaat-e-Islami for reviving the park and mini zoo, which they described as a much-needed addition to their community.
