In a fervent address at a political consultation meeting in Mansurah, Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, underscored the pivotal role of free and responsible journalism in a modern society. Baloch decried the alarming state of affairs exacerbated by political instability, lamenting attempts to stifle press freedom instead of addressing systemic issues. Baloch vehemently opposed any measures aimed at curtailing media freedom, denouncing censorship and legislative efforts to suppress dissenting voices. He criticized what he termed as “black laws” reminiscent of past eras, warning against using defamation and fake news as pretexts to muzzle the media and keep the public uninformed.
Expressing concerns over the growing political unrest, Baloch emphasized the importance of ensuring electoral integrity, particularly highlighting the significance of transparent electoral processes delineated by Form 45. He warned against the consequences of governments imposed through questionable means, asserting that political instability undermines efforts for economic recovery and national security. Baloch underscored the far-reaching implications of political developments, citing recent elections in India, Great Britain, and the United States as pivotal moments shaping the geopolitical landscape. He stressed the imperative of fostering strong and sustainable relations with neighboring countries .
