LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman asserted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf holds right to protest as government tightened noose against agitators in twin cites.
In a presser in Mansoorah, PTI chief expressed grave concerns over current political climate, calling it as alarming and criticising government’s handling of dissent.
Naeem highlighted that the actions being taken against protesters are unprecedented, stating that such measures have not been witnessed even during periods of martial law. He further stressed that the government’s attempts to maintain peace and order crushed democratic values.
PTI’s protest in Islamabad is a legal right, JI chief said, urging the government to facilitate the demonstrators rather than thwart them. He questioned the rationale behind blocking key cities with containers.
He further pointed out that the prevailing situation bears a disturbing resemblance to martial law, with the military being deployed at the government’s discretion. He also raised alarms about military interventions in Balochistan, Lahore, and Islamabad, asking what role the government is playing in these circumstances.
JI chief also condemned recent arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Gandapur, asserting that the government lacks authority to detain individuals arbitrarily and initiate shelling against its citizens.
As tensions continue to rise, Jamaat-e-Islami stands firmly in solidarity with PTI, calling for respect for democratic rights and an end to oppressive government practices.
