Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update; intermittent rains likely

ISLAMABAD – Intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen on Monday evening/night. A shallow westerly wave prevails over extreme northern parts of the country. A fresh westerly wave will likely approach the upper parts on Monday evening/night.

Under these conditions, rains are likely in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast/ south Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday night.

On Monday and Tuesday, more intermittent rains are likely in the twin cities, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, Northeast Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls may occur in the upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Potohar regions.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Monday and 34-36°C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Monday and 32-34°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in southern Balochistan, Sindh and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Sindh: Jacobabad, Karachi (MOS) 01

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 51 per cent.
