ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday, polling day for General Election 2024.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and parts of the country on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday (Election Day) and Friday. Freezing weather is expected in upper parts of the country. Shallow fog will likely prevail at isolated places in northeast Punjab during morning, night hours.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 00-02 degrees Celsius on Thursday and -01-01 C on Friday.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 03-05 C on Thursday and 02-04 C on Friday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred at isolated places in south Punjab and northeast Balochistan. Shallow fog prevailed over few plain areas of northeast Punjab.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 16 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 02 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 05 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 46 per cent.
