Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; scattered rains expected

ISLAMABAD – Rainfall of varying intensities are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely affect western parts of Pakistan tonight.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Thursday night. However, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm and snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places in North/South Balochistan and South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Smog/fog (in patches) is likely to prevail in isolated plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night hours.

On Friday, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm and snowfall over hills is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Smog/fog (in patches) is likely to prevail in isolated plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning/night hours.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04°C on Friday and 03-05°C on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09°C on Friday and 06-08°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Smoggy/foggy conditions persisted in patches in plain areas of Punjab.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 09°C below the freezing point.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 93 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 70 per cent.
