Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; more intermittent rains predicted

ISLAMABAD – More intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night and Thursday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region and northeast Balochistan on Wednesday night. Heavy falls are also likely at isolated places in Islamabad, Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan.

On Thursday, more intermittent rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper/central Punjab, and northeast Balochistan. Heavy falls may also occur at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32-34°C on Thursday and Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 31-33°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast Punjab and northeast Balochistan during the last 24 hours.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Bagrote, Bunji 03, Skardu, Astore 02

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Maximum temperature in Chilas was recorded at 43°C, and Dalbandin at 42°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 74 per cent.
