ISLAMABAD – Cold waves are expected to prevail in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of Pakistan and very cold in upper parts on Tuesday night and the next two days.
Fog/smog (in patches) will continue to persist at few plain areas of upper Sindh and Punjab during morning/night hours. Frost is likely to occur at isolated places in Islamabad, Pothohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning hours.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03°C on Wednesday and 00-02°C on Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04°C on Wednesday and 01-03°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts and extremely cold in upper parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. However, drizzle/light snow was recorded at isolated places in in Murree, Galliyat and surroundings. Smog/fog (in patches) persisted at few plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Leh and Skardu remained the coldest places in Pakistan where the temperature dropped 09°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Gopis, Astore and Gilgit was recorded at -07°C, Quetta -06°C, Kalat -05°C, and Dir and Kalam at -04°C.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 56 percent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 03°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 38 percent.
