ISLAMABAD – Parts of Pakistan including Islamabad received rainfall of varying intensities, enhancing chill in the weather.
The much-awaited wet spell for the last couple of days helped reduce the intensity of smog by washing away hazardous pollutants from the atmosphere.
Westerly winds also played a part in improving air quality as plains including Lahore saw sunshine for a considerable duration after quite some time.
Rain-thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Islamabad during the last 24 hours. Smog prevailed though with less intensity as compared with 2-3 days ago. Dense fog also prevailed in most areas of Punjab during morning/night hours.

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan where the mercury dropped 07°C below the freezing point.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 94 percent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 11°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 79 percent.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday. Smog/dense fog will likely persist in most parts of Punjab.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 06-08°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 09-11°C on Monday and Tuesday.
