ISLAMABAD – Rains of varying intensities with snowfall over the hills are likely in Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
As per the Pakistan Meteorological department (PMD), a frontal weather system prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist in upper parts of the country till January 06, 2025 (morning).
Under these conditions, rains of varying intensities with snowfall over the hills are likely in Murree, Galiyat, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Friday night. Moderate to dense fog will likely prevail in most plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
On Saturday and Sunday, rains with snowfall over the hills are likely in Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog will likely persist in most plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
Heavy snowfall may disrupt traffic by causing road closure/slippery conditions in Murree, Galiyat, and Pakistan’s other hilly areas.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will remain between 03-05°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will remain between 04-06°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, rains with snowfall over the mountains occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.
Cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over other parts of the country. Moderate to dense fog persisted in most districts of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Gupis remained the coldest place in Pakistan where the temperature dropped 08°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Leh and Parachinar was recorded at -04°C, Mirkhani and Hunza -03°C, Skardu at -03°C.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 percent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 26 percent.
