BAGHDAD – In a tragic incident in the Iraqi capital where TikTok sensation Om Fahad was gunned down outside her residence, prompting high-level probe in the Middle Eastern nation.
Ghufran Sawadi, who was famous on internet with her social media name Om Fahad. She was shot dead outside her home in Baghdad’s Zayouna district, and her killing CCTV sparked outrage online.

The TikTok star got huge fan following online as she used to share videos of dancing and having fun. However, her popularity in conservative society led to controversy.
In early 2023, Om Fahad was imprisoned for sharing bold videos online. She was accused of spreading vulgarity and peddling indecent messages that undermines modesty and public morality.
Iraqi government termed her content as threat to society, citing its role in damaging Iraqi families and society. The campaign was defended by interior ministry spokesman Saad Maan as unrelated to freedom of expression.
