ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi undertook a thorough visit to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters where he meticulously inspected the entire premises including various departments such as printing facilities.
During his visit, the interior minister issued directives to terminate mobile SIMs associated with ineffective and expired Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
Furthermore, Minister Naqvi instructed the establishment of NADRA model offices across the country, following the successful model of model police stations implemented in Punjab. The model offices aim to enhance service delivery and provide greater convenience to the public.
In a bid to streamline processes and enhance efficiency, Naqvi directed the prompt closure of fake cards issued on ineffective and expired CNICs.
Moreover, he announced the waiver of death certificate fees to facilitate the public.
Emphasizing the significance of NADRA as Pakistan’s identity, Minister Naqvi stressed the importance of establishing NADRA model offices to expedite service provision to citizens.
Chairman NADRA Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Officer extended a warm welcome to Minister Naqvi upon his arrival at the NADRA Headquarters.
The meeting chaired by Minister Naqvi discussed pivotal matters related to NADRA’s operations and future strategies.
Key highlights of the meeting included plans to bolster cyber security measures, upgrade technological infrastructure, and expand online registration platforms.
These initiatives aim to ensure efficient access to services for both local residents and overseas Pakistanis.
Additionally, NADRA unveiled its strategic plan for 2024, which encompasses modern security architecture, cyber security audits, and measures to enhance citizen registration processes in urban areas.
The roadmap also includes the installation of self-service kiosks at registration centers and the provision of mobile registration services to further streamline operations and improve accessibility for the public.
Minister Naqvi expressed his appreciation for the exemplary performance of Chairman NADRA, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Officer, in transforming NADRA into a more citizen-centric institution.
The briefing concluded with Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, NADRA Board Members, and senior officials affirming their commitment to implementing the discussed strategies effectively to better serve the citizens of Pakistan.
