KARACHI As per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), CPI for the month of Mar’20 clocked-in at 10.24% YoY compared to 8.6% YoY in Mar’19 and 12.40% in Feb’20, respectively. This took the 9MFY20 average inflation to 11.53% against 6.31% during 9MFY19. During the period under review, decline in monthly headline inflation was primarily led by Transport Index (- 4.4% MoM) due to decline in prices of petroleum products by PKR 20/ liter (PKR 5/liter during start of the month and PKR 15/liter on 25th Mar’20). On the other hand, Food index remained unchanged amid significant drop in prices of Tomatoes (-23% MoM), Wheat (- 8.43% MoM) and Fresh Vegetables (-7.78% MoM) wiped off the impact of higher prices of Onions (+35.07% MoM) and Potatoes (+10.93% MoM).
