The Indonesian Government has initiated several programs to boost the value of the country’s digital economy, an official from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin, has said.

The programs include Indonesia Digital Literacy, Becoming More Digitally Skilled, Cyber Creation Program, Digital Talent Scholarship, and Digital Leadership Academy, he informed during the 2023 Digital Finance and Economy Festival here on Wednesday.

“The government is currently aiming to have the Digital Talent Scholarship program be able to provide free training to 100 thousand participants, that encompass seven academies,” he noted.

In addition, the Pre-Employment Card, unveiled by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in April 2020, has recorded a relatively stellar growth.

As per government records, the Pre-Employment Card has been utilized by more than 16.5 million people in 514 districts or cities and 38 provinces.

The government is currently pursuing a breakthrough in the provision of end-to-end digital training to the public through the Pre-Employment Card.

“The government continues the program this year through the normal scheme that is no longer semi-social aid in nature, thus it is directed more toward skills improvement,” Salahuddin informed.

The government has also developed virtual reality-based learning materials for vocational schools through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) System Reform.

Thus, the learning program has been tested in 16 vocational schools and seven provinces, while 285 teachers have already received VR-based training.

He further said that the private sector should also play a crucial part in supporting the comprehensive development of digital economic value.

Because of this, the government has launched a Super Tax Deduction program as an incentive for industries involved in manpower education through the vocational system.—Antara news
