MUMBAI – Indian movie star Allu Arjun faced arrest after deadly stampede at a movie premiere in which a woman died.
Allu Arjun, who remains one of the highest actors in industry, was held by Hyderabad Police in connection with fatal stampede during premiere of his latest movie, Pushpa 2 – the recent movie that garnered Rs 1000 crore.
The tragic stampede caused outrage in fans as social media users raised voice over the incident.
Cops revealed they had not been informed in advance about Allu Arjun’s presence at the event, which is believed to have caused the chaos. A case has been registered against the theater management, the actor, and his security team.
A case has been filed under Sections 105 and 118 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after complaint from the victim’s family as high level probe is underway and authorities have assured that strict legal actions will be taken against those found responsible.
