Ukraine is a beautiful country in the heart of Europe. A country with a rich and diverse culture, the birthplace of world-famous scientists, artists and writers. Ukraine consists of 24 regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol. The official language is Ukrainian.

The largest cities of Ukraine are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Dnipro, Lviv etc. Ukraine has access to two seas, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Also, in the west of the country are the Carpathian Mountains. In the summer, Ukrainians go on vacation to the sea in the south, and in the winter, they ski at the slopes of Carpathian Mountains.

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. The city was founded in the V century AD by Prince Kyi, his brothers Shchek and Khoryv and their sister Lybid. The monument to the founders of Kyiv stands on the bank of the Dnieper River.

Kyiv is home to many universities, such as the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, National Pedagogical Drahomanov 9University, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture etc.

It is also home to the world-famous Dovzhenko Film Studio, the Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine, the National Academic Drama Theater, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theater etc.

Besides this, Kyiv is home to the Ar-Rahma Mosque, the Islamic University and the Muslim Cultural Center.

Ukraine is a country with a developed scientific and industrial base as well as agricultural sector. The lives of about 400 million people around the world depend on Ukrainian food exports.

Ukraine can rightfully be proud of its scientists and engineers, who are known all over the world. We will name only a few of them. Igor Sikorsky, a famous aircraft designer who invented the world’s first four-engine aircraft, the world’s first strategic bomber, as well as the first serial helicopter. Serhiy Korolyov – a key figure in the exploration of space by man, under his leadership, the first launch of an artificial satellite was carried out, and the first manned flight into space. Borys Paton – a scientist in the field of welding processes, metallurgy and metal technology. Paton served as the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from 1962 to 2020. One of Paton’s most significant inventions was the technology of welding underwater and in space.

Ukraine is a great place to travel. You can always find something interesting in every corner of our country. There are seven wonders of Ukraine. These include the Kamyanets-Podilskyi Fortress, an ancient fortress located on a cliff above the Smotrych River. The first written mention of it dates back to the IX century.

Khotyn Fortress is a historical fortress located on a cliff near the city of Khotyn. It served as an important defensive position and has amazing architectural details.

Sofiyivka Park is a unique park with landscape design, created in the XIX century on the initiative of Count Potocki. The park is famous for its various landscapes, statues and fountains.

St. Sophia Cathedral is a historical Orthodox church in Kyiv, founded in the XI century. The cathedral has unique architecture and cultural value. The walls of the cathedral contain 260 square meters of mosaics and 3,000 square meters of ancient frescoes.

The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a monastery complex that includes ancient Orthodox churches, museums, and caves with shrines. The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and St. Sophia Cathedral are on UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Khortytsia Island is the largest island on the Dnipro River, which played an important role in history of Ukraine. Here you can find archaeological excavations, museums, and Cossack huts.

Tauric Chersonesos is a city founded by the Greeks who lived on this land in the V century BC. At one time, Chersonesos was a powerful trade and political center. In Chersonesos, you can see the ruins of ancient Greek buildings and an amphitheater.

Besides history, science, architecture and culture, Ukraine is also known worldwide for its authentic cuisine. It reflects the peculiarities of the country’s regions and the culinary heritage of the country’s various ethnic and national communities. The main dish of Ukrainian cuisine is borscht soup. Each Ukrainian family has its own borscht recipe. The most common recipe includes cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and meat. Traditionally, it is served with sour cream, garlic or onions and pampushka bread. Besides borscht, the second main dish of Ukrainian cuisine is varenyky. Varenyky are made from unleavened dough with a filling of boiled meat, vegetables and berries. Each Ukrainian household has her own secrets for preparing various Ukrainian dishes.

Let’s not forget about the love of Ukrainians for sports. Sports such as football, boxing, fencing and swimming are very developed in Ukraine. At the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in the summer of 2024, Ukraine won 12 Olympic medals, 3 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze.

Ukraine is an incredible and beautiful country with kind and hospitable people. It holds many beautiful places, mysteries, and exotics that attract people from all over the world.
