LAHORE – Journalist Imran Riaz Khan was arrested again at the Lahore airport when he reached there to board the Hajj flight.
The development was confirmed by his team in a social media post, stating that the firebrand journalist was taken into custody at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
The law enforcers took him from the airport in a black double cabin vehicle as he was reciting “Labbaik Allah”.
Earlier this month, he Khan was barred from going to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage at the Islamabad International Airport.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq allowed the journalist to travel Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj.
During the hearing of the case, he judge was told that Imran Riaz Khan’s name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) on the recommendation of Federal Investigation Agency.
After hearing arguments, the court granted permission to the petitioner for travelling abroad.
Earlier this year, an anti-terrorism court granted Imran Riaz Khan post-arrest bail in case of resorting to violence outside residence of PTI founder Imran Khan.
