ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been prohibited from meeting with family members, legal representatives and party officials at Adiala Jail.
The jail authorities put ban citing the security concerns as primary reason.
The ban, which has been mandated by the Punjab government, is set to remain in effect until October 18 and will also apply to other inmates at Adiala Jail.
In a related development, the security agencies have intensified their investigations and detained six additional staff members from the jail for allegedly providing assistance to Imran Khan. Among those apprehended are three women including a sweeper and two female wardens as well as three personnel responsible for monitoring CCTV footage.
The officials have confiscated the mobile phones of the detained staff.
The reports suggested that the female employees were involved in exchanging messages between Bushra Bibi and Khan.
Additionally, Zafar Iqbal, a former deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail, has recently been released after facing charges of aiding the former prime minister. He was initially detained on August 13 for questioning regarding his involvement in supporting Khan while he was in custody.
