Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid participated as a special guest in the ceremony held at the Institute of Mental Health on the occasion of World Mental Illness Day. A large number of nurses and patients participated. Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid also inaugurated the state-of-the-art kitchen at the Institute of Mental Health. She also led a walk on the occasion of World Disease Day. Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that October 10 is celebrated all over the world to spread awareness about the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from mental diseases.
The Institute of Mental Health is the largest hospital for patients suffering from mental diseases in Asia. We are setting up a state of the art memory center for the convenience of patients. Along with the physical health of a person, mental health is equally important. If someone suffers from a mental illness, his or her family members go through a very painful process. A normal person can fight any kind of illness. Mentally ill patients need more attention than normal patients. Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said according to the vision of Imran Khan the Institute of Mental Health is being re vamped. The immune system of the patients suffering from mental diseases is also reduced.
It is very important to spread awareness about the attention of the patients suffering from mental diseases in the society. People over the age of 60 are generally prone to Alzheimer’s and dementia. She further said that the parents of mentally ill people die every day after seeing their child. The role of parents is always very important in the life of a child. People who suffer from depression cannot live a normal life. Through the best kitchen in the Institute of Mental Health, quality and clean food will be provided three times a day to more than eleven hundred patients. The government stands with the patients suffering from mental diseases. She congratulated the Executive Director and C&W officers for building a state of the art kitchen at the Institute of Mental Health. Executive Director Institute of Mental Health Dr. Mohsin Shaukat said that he is grateful to Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid for giving autonomy to the Institute of Mental Health in 2021.
