Imad Wasim has been reappointed the captain of Karachi Kings ahead of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League.

The 34-year-old led the Kings to their only PSL title in 2020 in his previous stint as captain with a win over Lahore Qalandars.

Imad Wasim also captained the Karachi Kings for three straight seasons (2018-2021), winning 20 out of 41 matches.

He had to make way for Babar Azam in 2021 after the batter emerged as a leading candidate for Pakistan’s captaincy. But after Azam was traded to Peshawar Zalmi ahead of this season, the door opened up for him to make a return once again.

Imad has so far played 64 matches in PSL, scoring 616 runs and taking 41 wickets.

The all-rounder will be hoping to use the platform as a springboard to make his case for national team selection as well after falling down the pecking order.

Although it has not been confirmed, there has always been speculation that Imad did not take too kindly to being replaced by Babar which eventually led to a falling out and Imad being dropped from the national side.

He can change that narrative by leading the Kings to another title after the Karachi franchise won only a single game in the previous edition.
